CONSTRUCTION SITES FOR WATER PROJECTS FOR THE FY 2023/2024 WORTH 332 MILLION SHILLINGS HANDED OVER

Mubende district local Government has embarked on the strategy to reduce on the long distances moved by residents in search for safe and clean water.

The Resident District Commissioner Al Haji Lule Umaru accompanied the vice chairperson Hon Besigye Kellen, Deputy CAO Mr.Mawa Geoffrey, Hon Guma Anthony Chairperson Works committee, Members of the works committee and the Technical team have today handover of 5 construction sites for water projects for the FY 2023/2024 worth 332 million Uganda shillings.

projects launched include borehole production well at lwemisegu lc 1 lubimbiri sub county worth 35 million Uganda shillings, hand pump bore hole at Bangi trading centre Nabingoola sub county worth 35 million Uganda shillings , 5 stance lined vip latrine at Butayunja LC I in Kayebe sub county worth - 35million Uganda shillings, hand pump bore hole at Lwamaboga A Lc I in Kayebe sub county worth 35 million Uganda shillings and pharse two extension of Kalonga piped water system to Kibaati /Bwakago lci in Kalonga Sub county worth 192 million Uganda shillings

while handing over the construction sites to the sub county leadership Al- Haji Lule Umaru RDC mubendd district noted that the NRM government has a vision of providing safe and clean water for every village and thus full filling it's core mandates.

RDC Al- Haji Lule has appealed to the local leaders to always monitor and supervise the construction work to avoid shoddy work at the completion phase.

Mr. Lule further appealed to Water Engineer and the contractors to always provide the local leaders with the BOQs to help them in the monitoring.

Hon Besigye Kellen Vice chairperson has appreciated the government for providing the funds for the construction works and also appreciated the land owners who have volunteerly provided the land where the projects will be constructed

Hon Besigye further appealed to residents to own the projects and monitor all works during the implementation phrase.

Mr. Mawa Geofery Deputy CAO Mubende noted that Mubende district aims at reducing the distance moved residents to fetch water from the current three kilometers from the water source to a shorter distance and at individual homes.

Mr.Mawa stressed that this initiative will improve the students attendance to classes, reduce domestic violence and prevent diseases caused by the use of unclean water.
