MUBENDE DISTRICT LEADER SHIP COMMISSIONS MEGA WATER PROJECT

Mubende district leader ship has commissioned a mega water project in a bid to increase access to clean and safe water.

The event was presided over by the Resident District Commissioner Mrs Byabaisajia Rose Mary at Kalonga trading centre in Kalonga sub county
Mrs Byabaisajia Rose Mary the Resident District Commissioner explained that ; “clean water is essential in curbing the spread of water borne diseases like cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, hepatitis. On this note the government is committed to wards improving the quality accessibility to clean water through constructing water projects like Kalonga piped water system.”

Hon Muhereza Ntambi Micheal the LcV chairman Mubende district appreciated the contractor RMK enterprise limited for delivering timely and quality work. He also appreciated the community members who sacrificing a piece of the land to enable the installation of water pipes, water tank and pump station.

Mr. Mutesasira Keefa district water engineer explained that the water system at Kalonga sub county will require the individual to pay at least a sum of 200 Uganda shilling per 20-liter jerrican. This money will be used for maintainance of the equipments for proper effiency of the water system.

The entire project started in financial year 2016/2017 with an estimated cost of shillings 1,987,966,925 serving villages of Kalonga trading center , Kibaati Lc 1 , Budibaga Trading Centre , Kalembe Lc1 , Kinyiga Lc 1 and Kisojjo lc 1 with an approximated population of about 15000 people.
