WATER PROJECTS WORTH 915,289,753 LAUNCHED

In a bid to improve on the water coverage Mubende district leaders ship has launched construction work for water projects worth 915,289,753.

According to Mr Mutesasira Keefa district water engineer projects launched include a Kyeza solar piped water supply system which is starting in the financial year 2021/2022 and estimated at a cost of 675,289,753 serving two villages which include Kyeza trading centre and Katagi lc 1 in Butoloogo sub county. Kyeza piped water system will serve 360 households that is 1715 people in initial year 2021-2022.

The first phase of the project was budgeted at a cost of 219,658,755 entailing the following activities. Construction of pump station of solar stand tower, Excavation and installation of transmission pumping main of 550m, Excavation and installation of distribution main network of 520m, Intensification network of 5 stand taps, Pump installation, Construction of stand grider wall for reservoir.

Drill of 10 hand pump boreholes has also been launched at three sub counties which include
Kitenga sub county at Nyakitunda, Gongonya, Butoloogo Health Centre Iii, Butoloogo Seed School and Kyankumba villages. In Kasambya sub county at Lutovu, Kakikoba villages , Nabingoola sub county at Kabalungi B, Katoma, Maya A villages .

The project scope of work is costed at 240,000,00 million Uganda shillings and will entail the following activities ie Bore hole drilling and well development, platform casting and pump installation.

These sites for bore holes have been handed over to Galaxy Agrotech (u)ltd as the contractor.

During the site hand over ceremony for the water projects at Kyeza trading centre the Resident District commissioner Mubende Mrs Byabaisaija Rose Mary informed the residents that government has invested a lot of money in the water projects to enable the people access clean and safe water.

She therefore appealed to the leader ship to play their supervisory role by visiting the construction sites and report to her office where shoddy work is being carried out.

Hon Muhereza Ntambi Micheal Lcv chairman mubende district appreciated the government for providing the district with funds to enable them plan and allocate the water projects according to the need.

He tasked the contractor to do quality and timely construction work so that the value for money is attained from the water projects.
